Due... overdue

4 Jun 2010 (Fri)

My EDD is today! But still not much signs that the little one is joining us today... well 6 June sounds easy to remember too! As with the last pregnancy, thinking it's the last lap already (even though I hv kept saying that for weeks...) and doesn't help that I feel hunger more easily?! so we have been eating buffet and Japanese food - craving at third tri?? It's no wonder that my weight has since ballooned to 15kg! The consolation is this is 3kg less than pregnancy #1.

So we decided to do some last minute shopping - hence we pop by Expo for the Motherhood sale where JL sale is going on too. We bought quite a few things, spending abt $100 in total with the pampers deal being the most worthwhile. By then, it's passed Zee Yann's nap time so we plan to bring her home later after dinner at in law's place.

BH is quite intense during my sleep to the point I thought I may give birth but soon it stops and I continue to drift back to dreamland. False alarm as usual... Cos in my heart I keep thinking my waterbag will leak first.

By now TG and me are super sian, maybe we should ask gynae during my next week review on 7 June if I can be induced to end this misery waiting game?

7 Jun 2010 (Mon)

D day is here finally!!

I had more regular contractional pain whilst sleeping - at least 3 to 4 times but choose to ignore n sleep away. However, the pain started to feel more uncomfy at 9am+, but still bearable. To make it worse, i started to experience backache too and somehow maternal instincts seem to signal to me that my prince is ready to be out today!!

Luckily daddy is at home and decided to bring along the hospital bag since i am hving my gynae review today at noon. As I walked into gynae clinic I broke into cold sweat and after describing the cramps I experience this morning, the usual calm gynae quickly ask to do a VE. Ouchh!!! It hurts... But the good news is I am 4cm dilated! But wait a minute, I haven't had my lunch yet! We decide to proceed to labour ward and get it over once and for all!!

And the following events took place as far as I can recall :

1pm - At observation ward, take urine sample, change into surgery gown
1:15pm - enema administered
1:30pm - At labour ward and had epidurial administered by Paul Tseng's brother.
Both gynae n hubby went for lunch whilst I just FB on my iPhone
2pm - Paul arrives and break my waterbag
I requested to increase epidural dosage as I can feel some pain. Push continues for another hour or so. Vomitted thrice at the labour ward. Some other side effects include sleepiness, itch, mild headache, feeling cold... but I doubt I can tahan w/o epidurial anyway.
4pm - Paul is back for final push and deliver of the baby.
4:23pm - Baby Zee How is out! He weighs 3.31kg, length is 50cm and head circumference 34cm
5:30pm - I am pushed to ward 626B
6pm - dinner (红糟鸡面线 + 黑豆汤)
But vomitted all out within half an hour!! Still it feels good to hv eaten some food after missing my lunch! Thank goodness I hv 2 pcs of toast in the morning.

What an eventful day!

Nov '07 Mummies Lunch @ Ellenborough

It's been a few months since the mummies met up for tea, and with so many preggy mums (its 4 to 2!), we've had a great lunch while having all these mums' talks. Credits to be given to our 2 little toddlers (Matt & Hayley) - whom are considered to be well-behaved during the 2-hour lunch session.

Till our next meet up again.

And hope all the mummies-to-be to enjoy MS-free pregnancy and smooth delivery.

LASIK

I am finally taken the plunge to fix my high myopia via LASIK. I have to admit that the first time the surgeon operates on my right eye, I kinda regretted my decision. It's simply scary.. and that suction ring hurts! My right eye just cant seem to focus on that blinking red light cos I just wanna get OUT. Thank goodness its done (including my fear) in a few min and I have become stronger by the time the procedure repeats on my left eye. And it's done.

That's it? Hmmm... ok..

I am surprised that I can actually still see immediately after the surgery, though I am advised to close my eyes to rest.

More importantly, I am glad that Zee Yann is not scared off by this look of mine, cos its so ugly that I wont even want to post any pic here :) She must be wondering why is mummy wearing this eye shield even when she is sleeping? And she seems to be able to comprehend and din attempt to even touch my eye shield at all.

So its rest, rest and more rest for the eyes.

Looking forward to the day with perfect vision the moment I open my eyes!

Tea session with Grace & Cheryl

Little Cheryl never fails to amaze me - now she can say so many words like "please" and "美". Little Zee Yann needs to buck up on her linguistic skills too.

Nov 07 mummies hi-tea @ Regent

The food is mediocre, tho the company makes up for it. Not a bad turnout considering this is a Friday. Keep it up mummies!

Couple time revived!

Last week it was movie nite - red cliff & this week, it's buffet cum stroll @ Mt Faber. Henderson Waves - 300m long, at 36 metres above Henderson Road, is currently the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. With the attractive illuminative glow in the nite, the bridge is definitely worth seeing.

Mummy & Daddy will miss you greatly dearie, as we will be away for a week to Beijing. Our next trip will definitely be for the whole family of 3, ok? Be Good. We Love You!

My 1st Mother's Day Celebration!

It sure sounds weird to me to be wished a "Happy Mother's Day" - guess I just need some getting used to. But I am proud to be one & enjoying motherhood as the days go. While the celebration mode is the standard dinner with everyone, this year's Mother Day's holds great special meaning for Me.

And here's wishing all Mummies a Happy Mother's Day!

Kat's Birth Story

6 Nov, 2007

4:00pm Playing Nintendo Wii Sports

5:30pm Suspected water bag leaking, checked with Grace whom had similar symptoms previously

8:30pm Reached TMC, placed under observation room

9:00pm Vaginal examination (VE) done, only 1cm dilate, contraction not regular but water membrane has ruptured

9:30pm Nurse contacted gynae Paul Tseng, was given 2 options - go home or stay for the nite. Decided on the latter as can feel the water gushing out continuously

7 Nov, 2007

12:15am Finally pushed into Rm 409 as all 1-bedder rooms are fully occupied. Exhausted & tired, not sure when the real contraction began. But, I can feel the contraction getting more & more intense & regular - however, I still choose to ignore the pain as I really yearned for Zzz

2:45am Pain was finally getting unbearable & disturbing, was transferred back to the observation room. 3cm dilate, ready to go into labour ward!

3:15am Given oxygen mask to inhale. Anaesthetist Y.C. Lim arrived promptly to administer epidurial.

4:15am 10cm dilate already! Push began..

5:30am Gynae Paul Tseng arrived, a few more pushes.. no episiotomy required.

6:09am Zee Yann is born! Weighs a healthy 3.12kg, head circumference 32cm & length 48cm!

5 Nov - Due or not Due??

Today marks the 1st day of my Wk40 journey - tho little Zee Yann doesn't seem eager in seeing the real world as yet.. apart from waiting, its still waiting and guessing which day will the "D" day be?? I'm thinking, perhaps its 9 Nov, as little one wants to share the same birth date as mummy? Ada is betting on 8 Nov - all in exchange for a dinner, when she comes here for a short trip in Dec.

Daddy-to-be is getting restless and impatient as the day passed, despite daily reminders to the little gal that its time to come out!
