I am 17 months old!

Gross/Fine Motor Skills
- Able to run after a ball, bend and pick it up and continue to run/throw with the ball. Also master the art of kicking the ball.
- Able to walk up a step unassisted
- Able to slot in 2 shapes on the shape sorter
- Able to stack 4 play-doh containers upward
- Able to slot in 2 animals, usually giraffe and zebra, correctly onto the wood puzzle
- Able to drop the rings round the hoop
- Able to unzip mummy's bag to retrieve desired objects, such as handphone (enjoys seeing pictures/video clips) and wallet

Cognitive/Social Skills
- Will wait for mummy/daddy to lock the door/gate
- Understands instructions to switch on/off the fan and switch on/off the lights.
- Automatically pull out a piece of tissue and wipe the table/floor if accidentally spill the water
- Offers mummy a piece of tissue to wipe off her excess eye drops
- Help to clear own milk bottle and bowl after meal, by handing it over to mummy/daddy/helper and throwing away the tissue paper into the dustbin in the kitchen
- Enjoys more pretend/imaginative play such as feeding Bunny with food, throwing a "ball" made from play-doh, whipping up a storm using kitchen utensils (ice cream scoop, whisk), washing hair for others, massaging on mummy/daddy's neck/back
- Enjoys flipping the photo album and will shout out the names whilst pointing at the correct photos such as baby, 哥哥, papa, mama, uncle (gynae)..
- Requests to watch the same VCD/DVD - "The wheels on the bus" or "Barney" and able to operate the CD player by switching on and removing/putting back the CD.
- More affectionate; will hug mummy from the back and/or kiss when requested
- Likes to befriend kids of her age, particularly enjoys playing ball with the boys at the playground.

Character-building
- I prefer to bathe standing up, and its becoming a struggle to get me to shower recently.
- Greater sense of humour; laugh at scenes from the VCD/DVD or even at mummy when she clumsily drops a toy/food.
- More tantrums throwing (or rather increasing sense of independence and assertiveness) but still within manageable control. Ultimatum statement from Mummy: "Mummy is going to be very angry..."

Even though my vocabulary is still limited, but I am able to associate the names correctly most of the time. I will call out baby, 哥哥, 妹妹 and uncle if I spot them. Could it be that 姐姐 and auntie are just harder to pronounce?

New words:
- later, dirty, paper, yes, where,
- bye bye, uncle, auntie, cold, hot,
- fish, hmm, empty, minnie, bag,
- bear, go
- 妹妹,哥哥 or gor gor, 姐姐, 婆婆, 按摩, 没有, 喂

Favourite word of the month: 不要 (and most of the time I mean it!)
